December
Now that the hustle and bustle of the Holidays is over,
it gave me time to think about R.C. Dusters and the past
year
. The first thing I realized is that our past President,
Fred Mangold, is going to be a hard act to follow.
During his term the club built a new entrance, acquired
and installed a frequency board and ran 2 successful
Fun Flys. Even if he was not always there, his
leadership was. Thanks Fred, from everyone in R. C.
Dusters.
The Board for 2006 has only one change – Steve Baker
as Vice President. For those of you no familiar with
Steve, he is a great modeler and flyer. He has great
ideas to better the club and is always willing to do the
work. He will be great for R.C. Dusters.
In 2006 I guess I have also started my wish list:
1. Since the swap season is coming up
quickly, I would like the club to purchase a
club trainer or trainer cords so that new
members and people interested in the
hobby use the Buddy Box to get the feel of
R.C. flying. I’d like to vote on this at the
January meeting. One of our members
purchased one last year for under $150.
2. I would like to see the club get back to a
“one night a week” club fly and student
night. Some of our members travel a good
distance to get to our field only to find no
one there. If we could decide on a weekday
that you could count on flyers to be there, I
feel more would show up.
See you Jan 11th at the meeting, which
is held at the Park District.
Minutes from December
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. with 19
members present. The minutes were accepted as published
in the newsletter.
Lee is still checking on restaurant, as they have not opened
yet. There will be a report at the January meeting. The
dinner will be late January or early February. Forms to be
sent out and pre-paid.
Adopt-A-Highway forms have been sent in. We have not
received a reply to date. The State will furnish vests and
bags. We will do the section of Rt. 34 from Leland cut-off
west to Leland Road. We will do this the Saturday after
our monthly meeting. It will amount to 4 times per year.
Steve Baker picked up the frequency board and is storing
it. The landlord was given a gift certificate for $300.00 for
Pheasant Run Inn. He also is aware we are going to do the
Adopt-A-Highway program.
Lee explained how this year’s raffle would work. Each
member will get 5 coupons and will get two prizes. Next
year there will be fewer prizes, but better ones. You will
get coupons based on attendance and “show and tell.”
The new board was elected as follows:

We currently have 32 members. It was voted to change the
bylaws from 35 members to 40-member limit.
